Replacing power cord's on vintage gear

MikeCh

Super Member
Is it ok to use a polarized (plug) power cord to replace a non-polarized (plug) OEM cord of the same gauge/jacket thickness, etc. ? If so, are there any particulars for soldering these to the correct terminals inside the gear? The amp and tuner that need them are Kenwood KA-7002 and KT-7001.

Thanks,
Mike

IMO, since the original cord is non-polarized then orientation of the replacement cord is not critical, however, since you will be inside the equipment anyway, It would not hurt to connect the hot side (narrow blade) to the switch side in the equipment.
