Replacing RCA cable on Lenco L75/S.... Need help!

Hi, people! I'm trying to replace the RCA cable of a Lenco L75/s Turntable but I don't know how to remove the aluminium plate of the turntable. I've done this before to other Pioneer turntables but the Lenco seems to work another way and I don't want to broke it while trying to remove the plate. (I need to remove the aluminium plate to have access to the beggining of the cord and replace it).
Can anyone help me in this? Thank you in advance!!!

Lift the platter, and hold it in the elevated position. While held up, tap the spindle downward. The platter should lift off easily after tapping the spindle down.
This can be done with shims under the platter (I use bits of folded paper towel); the help of another person; or with your own three hands.
If you need to use brute force, pad the spindle top with a small block of wood, to prevent damaging it.

While you're at it you can replace the power cord to an IEC type and that way there are no *#@* loose leads dangling when you're carrying it. I did it with my L75. :thmbsp:
My guess is you're already doing this?

Thanks again Mrfrench!! And thanks to thilassen too!!!
I had some health problems and I couldn't do the work untill yesterday. But I think all went OK. Maybe somebody should be gratefull to know that the plate didn't come at first even trying as Mfrech suggested. The way to do it was right but after 30 years the plate didn't come so I had to wait about 40 minuts or so, then I proceed again as says Mfrench and the plate finally came.
The soldering wasn't so difficult and I thought and it sound good now.

Thank Thilassen about the recomendation for the cable but I had it bought when you write it. I think it is a very good recomendation that I try the next time I have to replace a cable.

I'm very grateful. Thank to you a very pretty Lenco L/75 is now still with us and ready to work for many more years.
