I have a Sony STR-D715 that quit working a few years ago, and I finally decided I should fix it. It didn't take me long to realize that both power transistors on one channel were shorted.
I ordered new transistors from Mouser. Is there anything else that could have fried along with the shorted transistors? There's no visible damage anywhere, although that doesn't necessarily mean nothing's wrong.
Side story from when it broke: at the time, I had a lot less electronics experience, and I thought "what could go wrong if I just stuck an alligator lead in place of the fuse?" Basically, the resistor that's in series with the shorted transistors somewhere was connected straight across the power rails, and it quickly began to glow brightly. It still reads OK and the case isn't damaged (it's a big ceramic resistor), but I might replace it anyways. TL;DR, 14 year old me was an idiot.
