Replacing woofer surround

I replaced surrounds on my 10" JBL woofers last year. I didn't glue the foam to the speaker structure. (Wasn't sure what type of glue to use, if any. I press-fit the thin JBL top gasket on top of the foam and it seemed pretty secure.) Should the foam be glued to the structure? Originally, the gasket was glued to the speaker casing with some kind of tough adhesive. I think the foam on one edge might be rattling against the speaker structure when played at high volume.

Are some surround kits better than others? (Mine came with lousy white glue that didn't take the first time.)

I use Aileen's tacky glue for all my refoams. You can get it at craft stores or even Walmart. Yes, glue the surround to the basket and then glue the gasket on top of the surround. I am sure you are getting some rattling when you get long excursions of the woofer.

To glue the surround to the frame, you must use enough glue to form a film that bond the two dissimilar surfaces. Sometimes you have to apply glue to both surfaces, let them cure a bit, then press them together and then clamp in some fashion.
