post 1250 cap only rebuild, was stunned very few transistor legs were blackened with the fungus of death. after the total recap of amp and a 100 % psu rebuild, i recommend handles on your listening chair, she is the real deal. the 1250 still out images anything I've herd, music separating feet in front of your speaker even off to the side, like the music is like water. the sound is better described by comparing to the 1010. it is a far more controlled sound over the 1010 at volume "50%" the speakers do return to the neutral point every time and it is best displayed while watching movies "honestly, go back to those awesome sounding theaters from the 90's where the sound outside was like an earthquake" we are running goldwood hd 15" woofers in properly built boxes for our baseline, and those speakers are tossed around precisely like tin cups. many subwoofers struggle to make half the mass notes these were forced to make and even cleaner, lower and better than I've ever felt or herd. back to my assessment between the 1010 vs the 1250. this is the best answer I've herd to a more powerful, and better sounding 1010, as the settings never really got moved, bass is on the same exact marks, and the phono is superior, no added treble to the music. loudness off. my love for the 1010 will never be extinguished, but the 1250 by its own right is the superior unit hands down, and worth the recap alone. my only suggestion for your choice would be to mainly consider if your running high efficiency speakers and the size of your rooms what unit you choose. if you have some speakers at 88db and a middle sized area, maybe then a 1250 can squeeze in, but if its high efficiency, drop down for the 1010 in size, this considering your choices. my living room is not very big, maybe 12' x 20', and we packed in sound dampening "furniture, cloth wall hangings etc" and tbh, we need 2x that size with 94 db rated speakers, its basically pa in a match box for us, even thou the speakers respond more like monitors. ' my sound test provided that i'm not deaf yet so i can keep jamming" this is my take, leme know if i'm stupid, crazy or just fn right, thanks for reading my post!
we did do a side comparison as well, as my father bought a 1250 to replace his 3900 in the early 2010's and was terribly disapointed, we could do a proper side by side with these 2 units this past weekend to burry the hatchet. a 3900 has clarity and the most over the top understated hud, outside of this, it still proved to be made more effecient over powerfull, dispite the 120w rating i claims. the 3 generations before are louder, stronger, and better sounding at 100 watts and up, the 1250 handed it a solid loss in every dimension after we played court of the crimson king alone. 200 hrtz and 3 ticks up on bass, at about the exact same volume level, and the 1250 had flat, sounded the exact same. pioneer is amasing making the same sounding equipment imo, maybe not exactly the same, but you know they are related, dispite any power gulfs.
