Restoring Technics SE-9600

IMG_4225.jpg Currently in the process of fixing a few problems with my SE-9600. I've ordered a few lamps for the Power Meter, and I'd like to fix the speaker terminals. Back in the day, when I was much younger, the original speaker terminal back plate cracked, so I used a piece of thin metal to mount new speaker terminals, with poor workmanship. Any suggestions on how to restore the speaker terminals to original or upgraded condition would be appreciated.

I'd personally replace that metal back plate with the terminals mounted on it with a new piece of plastic/perspex, drill out the holes and mount new round speaker terminals.

You'd really ought to replace the electrolytic caps if this has not been done yet and give it a thorough service, it would be a real waste if you blow the power transistors due to worn components.

Thank you for the responses. Regarding replacing the electrolytic caps, some sites are suggesting inspecting the caps, and if they are not leaking or bulging leave them alone - whats your opinion? Also, is there a list of the electrolytic caps for the SE-9600? The unit has been always left on for the last 15 years, is that good, bad or no difference?

It's in my pile :). I'll see to dig it out somewhere next week.
