Dang....it's that time again!!!Another week,another scan.This week I bring to you...BIC,their sales brochure from 1978.I had some of their audio gear back then,one of their turntables,and one of their "hey cool...I get better freq. response,but half the record/playtime out of my cassettes,and they make only one auto/car cassette deck,and no way to play portable,oh this was a great idea"cassette decks.As I remember,BIC wasn't the only company that made 2 speed cassette decks...anybody know who else made them?...enjoy this week's scan. Thanks again. I´m not familiar with BIC equipment other than some audio accessories. I believe they were mostly sold in North America, right?

Excellent scans of some BIC gear I never even knew existed. I only have vague memories now of those ugly turntables they sold in the early 70s, the ones with plastic windows dotting the surface of the platter. They receive my vote for some of the ugliest equipment I have ever seen, KABUKI TURNTABLES DELUXE. But th turntables seen here are quite good looking. I do remember the cassette decks, and I would be curious to see how one of them might perform.
 
British Industries Corp. -I remember them well. I had an FM-10 Beam Box and I really wanted to try the 2-speed cassette deck. If memory serves me (and it doesn't always), didn't they also offer a linear-tracking, remote controlled TT?
 
And didn't they make something called BIC Venturi speakers? Speakers with some sort of flared port. I remember seeing them at a Hi-Fi show in Atlanta in the late sixties/early 70's.

I think Tascam put out some two speed decks at one point, but these were more of a studio deck.
 
It seems to me I remember that cassette deck being offered in the Heathkit cat. And yes there were several two speed cassette's, they didn't catch on. I don't remember those TT's from BIC, I do remember the mock DUAL's they built. Nice scan's again, I'm ready to start a retrokeep fan club, this is fun!
 
I had a pair of BIC Venturis back in the late 70's. The really big ones. I think they had a 15" woofer and many other drivers mounted on a angled front baffle

any info on a Big BIC speaker that has the midrange mounted in the center of the woofer. and a one piece unit housing a horn tweet/super tweet?
 
Sorry,this is the only BIC brochure I have,will look thru some audio magazines,see if I can find some ads that describe what your looking for.I tried posting scans from this brochure about the speakers,but I already scanned those in on an earlier post and it (the site) won't let me post them again :scratch2: ....Rob
