Returning to Complete Repair of an SA 9500II: an Old Friend

The audible difference was with the source plugged straight in the amp-in rca plug, can't have an audible difference without a speaker load, protection relay is new and bias was very close to spec.

Mark, could you be a bit more specific about where I am checking the inputs and outputs please. I am confused by your instructions. Thanks for your response.

There was something said about the volume of one channel being 1/3 of the other channel's. Or has that been resolved?

Because I hooked this amp up after setting bias on both channels, to a source, and found the output of the right channel way lower than the left. I have since torn down the right side AWH-052 board and rechecked everything, as is posted on page 5 and 6 of this thread. I am just trying to check if there is anything else to check before I button it back up. The bias issue mentioned a few times, has me concerned, but if there is nothing left to check, I will reassemble tomorrow and try again. I am not giving up!!!

This is the last post on this thread for me, unless it is reopened with questions from other members. I started a new thread to finish this project for two reasons. One, when a thread has been open for as long as this one had, 5 weeks, it becomes stale in the sense that people who see it will bypass it because they have seen it so many times before. Two, I was hoping to attract other AK members for assistance because it became a Markthefixer/Kingbubba thread. This was unfair for Mark to be toting the whole load of helping an inexperienced person like me, by himself. In both cases I was successful in that more eyes viewed the new thread and I was able to receive assistance from Goat67, in addition to Markthefixer. They were both patient and helpful. I am grateful.

Please read this thread and the other threads that link to this one. These transistors are unobtanium and the replacements require a work around which this thread hints at and the other links explain. It ain't purty but it doable.

Thanks KingBubba for your detailed step by step for all of us onlookers. I've considered to try to fix my amp but I still need to be the armchair aprentice for awhile watching (photos) and learning the details. You'll get it fixed I'm sure, with all the help here.
