Reuben Guss speakers ????

I came across an old audio mag from the early 90's (cannot recall the name) and was wondering if anyone ever heard of them / owned them. This pair went for $15,000....each speaker has 4 tweeters....1 dome & 4 piezos(1 piezo fires out one side)...the reviewer raved about these...I believe they were made in New York....anyone have any experience with this brand ?

My memory is that Reuben Guss speakers were perenially the most expensive and most multiple dirver laden speakers in the Audio Annual Equipment Directory. He was also the perenial winner of the golden turkey award for most overpriced and underperforming audio equipment. I have no idea if anyone ever heard a pair of any of his speakers -- I suspect he caught all those brickbats just on the basis of peoples' (often correct) assumptions about what a speaker with a bazillion drivers would be likely to sound like.
I'd be delighted to find out I was wrong -- there was something charming about his quixotic and bombastic marketing.

I'm not sure there was even such a thing as a display salon. All sales were to be custion installations. Only filthy-rich need apply.

If anyone has any REAL information, I'd love to hear it. I'm just rehashing old BS for my part.

Yeah... I remember these guys back in the 80's... when I bought my first Polk 7s.
Never saw pictures though. Any pix people?

I remember another manufacturer who's name began with an A who made speakers with "Concrete and Glass Waveguide Walls." Yikes.

I think that the speakers were more designs or ideas than actual production models. I believe they were custom built, possibly as installations, as orders came in. So there may not have been pictures of them. Given the prices, you'd have to be pretty confident of his abilities, or simply not care much about sound, to buy them without hearing them.
