Revived Sansui 6060!

I recently got my hands on my dad's old 6060 from a cousin he gave it to pre me. How exciting!
Just got it up and running after replacing capacitors, resistors, noisy driver transistors and the fun glue removal.
I need to look into the speaker binding posts, (and maybe upgrade) the right channel positive looks a bit..melted.

Currently we have Paranoid playing in honor of the Prince of Darkness, and things are good.

Congrats! Great picture. And nice work on the restoration. RIP Ozzy.
 
^ whatever caused that, it's definitely melt damage. Not sure how a receiver in the fairly modest power range of the 6060 could generate that much heat at the speaker terminal without doing other major damage to the output stage and power supply. You'd need a few hundred watts output to make an arc welder out of an amp.

There are currently some speaker binding post upgrades listed on Barter Town, but you need to be a subscriber to view BT. Well worth the $25 per year. No affiliation with the seller.
 
She’s a beauty thanks for sharing. The first time I heard Crazy Train it was on a Sansui. Randy and Ozzy are heavy metal Gods.
 
Can imagine it being a cigarette burn. Someone puffing away and accidentally dropping their smoke as they try to connect some spkrs. Nice job and sweet lights! Any internal pics?
 
I seem to have an intermittent output issue, heard a buzzing and the heatsink was hot on one side, we are gonna double check the output transistors again, maybe just replace them for piece of mind.

From when I first cracked the case open, still a good amount of cleaning to go...

Actually, it looks more like a soldering iron poke....who knows. You'll find all caps need replacement, fuse resistors a plenty and all over, except tuner board. Death diodes on rectifier, tuner, board... Can refer to the 5050 , which is nearly the same unit.
