Revox A77 Mk-4 Fast Forward/Rewind problem

I can see it also (I think ...), but it seems you need to remove the cover in order to clean it.
Right ?

If yes, I will give it for repair to check also why the fast-rewind is so slow.

Regards /Ofer

Yes, it would be best to remove front panel and the main rear case to give a good cleaning to the contacts (polish and DeOxit). In a pinch, you could squirt some DeOxit on the switch without removing panels, but it may not give good results.

You might find one of the motor phase caps leaking as the cause for slow rewind. On Louis's machine, the oil was leaked all over the inside of the machine.

Thank You.and Marc....... I have the Flu so I have not had time to mess with the switch. Will it hurt anything to just keep doing what I do. Move the selector switch so my meters are not maxing out on rewind? i know another Rookie question. But I am learning. You Guys ROCK. what great forum and members.:thmbsp: Going back to bed... sigh.

Morning....

I have had the stomach flu myself since Monday evening. Have not eaten a bite since. Not fun, but feeling better today.

It shouldn't hurt anything to move the selectors, Louis.

Feel better...

Thanks Marc.... I figured it was Ok to move the selector but after all the time and trouble you went to I needed to ask. Me too with the stomach Flu... I had to have a I.V. on Monday
and just now eating vogurt and potato soup.... and keeping it down...finally. I have never had this for so many days in a row. On antibotics
as my white cell count was super high. Glad you are better... hey your younger then me:yes:

After the Holidays I will read my Service Manual and see if I feel OK with removing the front and following the instructions you and Tapetech posted.
I am so close to having Dad's old Mk IV like New again... I do tend to nick pit every thing I own... my old Vette and Sport Bikes had to be perfect... sometimes it a curse to keep your toys like new.

Happy Holidays To All
Louis
