hi, trying to decide whether to sell my soul for a set of rf 7's, if i can get them or rf 83's...one dealer who is supposedly knowledgeable flat out said they no longer make the rf-7 which is wrong and that the rf 83's would be better...i know they have 3 woofers compared to 2 on the 7's but there is the issue of 2 10 inche woofers against 3 8 inchers.on the 83s's..according to the specs the 83's have a lower reach even with the smaller woofers...the dealer said the newer technology favors the 83's...anyway i have heard the 83's compared to the 82's..no contest...any and all opinions will be very welcome and i thank you all in advance...Joe D...the different room sizes they may be used is either 12 by 12 for theater setup or 20 by 15 and an open floor arrangement for music only....

Dealer probably want to get rid of his RF83 inventory, rather than sell RF7's which was discontinued some years ago, but brought back this summer. The fact that Klipsch brought back the RF5 and 7 speaks volumes of it's design.

I have the same dilemma, have PSB's T45 in my tube setup, and want to change to Klipsch RF due to much higher efficiency (91 dB vs 100 dB average). And, I like their sound. I will change in December when I get my year end bonuses.

Have not been able to find a good stock of RF's so I can do head to head comparison's, but from what I have heard so far it looks that the RF7 is what I'm looking for. Better than the RF63, and smaller than the RF83.

thanks, i keep looking at the 2 10 inch woofers compared tothe 3 8 inchers for the rf83 even though specs say th erf83 goes lower...maybe newer technology...just dont know..I have only heard 83's against 82's which is no contest but twice the price...maybe i will wait till rf 7's are plentiful.....thanks again and any other members who have opinions i will greatly appreciate it....

12X12 too smallish, 20X15 much better. I first bought RB75's, then thought I'd get RF7's. I like the narrower cabinet and the three 8in drivers of the 83's, I find a better match for tube gear. Better bracing is a plus. RF7's sound a little fuller on the bass, but I think the 83's are tighter. More defined highs and mids on the 83's. Although I really hadn't intended to buy at the time, I made a offer on demo 83's, they weren't going to carry them any longer. Got them for 1248.00 tax included, they went up another 300 bucks list since then. Powerful speaker! Like it 3X's more with tube amps. High price speakers just aren't moving at dealers, RF7's are less costly, and a good value, hence there comeback. I been going to the same dealer for years, and know 2 of the sales guys went from RF7's to RF83's. Not that it's needed, but a sub can add a bit more fullness to the lower bass, but in too small a room they can be a bit too much. Ports are what extend the bass, and ports have improved. I suggest 3 layer foam from parts express to line inside cabinets, I've done this with Martin Logans and made a substantial improvement.

thanks...i tried to get to 2 audio stores today but was too early to test listen..went to best buy but just to get speaker wire, they onlly sell the lower end Klipsch...i am learning from audio karma.but this may get expensive...maybe during the week i can listen to them..unfortunately where i live near myrtle beach sc their are few sales....i just figured 2 10 inch woofers are better than 3 8 inchers for bass but the numbers dont lie (usually) freq resp is a little better with the 83's ...even the 82's have good numbers and high sensitivity but side by side the 83's just are better but i have a little trouble with paying almost list for them....i will keep looking and listening until the time and price are right....thanks again for all the input....i think i am convinced they will go in the big room..i have a set of norman labs 335's and klipsch surrounds in the theater set up at present and may leave that as is....sometimes i wish i had a wife that will say...you cant possibly spend that much on speakers (did i just say that) but i dont so i probably will.....there are worse habits and they dont sound as good....

I have the RF-5's and I love them personally. I got a nice set off Craigslist used for $450.
