So I wanted to add a Klipsch RW112 subwoofer to my vintage Pioneer set up, which is problematic because there is of course, no pre-amp output for a sub on any Pioneer 70’s era equipment. Not wanting to have to crawl behind the thing every time I needed to adjust the gain, I was in a quandary until my eyes fell upon that RG-2 “Expander” I picked up an estate sale a year ago. I never used it because I have the RG-1 and frankly, I just don’t use it much as I’ve gone to more powerful amps. So, tape out to the RG-2 then to the sub, presto a sub controller using the level knob! And then a pleasant surprise: the Dynamic Expansion knob did all kinds of cool stuff with the actual tone of the sub.... Very pleased!
