I wanted to share some pics of the Richard Gray's 600 power conditioner I've just received, as I couldn't fine any on the internet.
It has 6 sockets on the back, 4 separately switched, and 2 permanent, and 1 convenient one on the front of the chassis.
The 2 bypass switches for the switched sockets on the back were damaged during shipping, so I had to replace them.
First this product is very well built. The chassis is very solid and easy to open. The hardware inside is top quality, the wiring is well made, all earth ground to one chassis point.
At first, I though it was a classic insolation transformer type of device. But when I opened it, the "transformer" wasn't what I expected: too small, big gaps and 2 wires.
Ok, I got it, it's a choke, so it's a choke filtered design.
But then I traced the AC circuit and no, the choke is not serial with the AC distribution, but parallel to the AC.
That's interesting.
So that unit is not an insolation device and uses a choke in parallel of the AC.
Out of curiosity I measured it a 2H, 11.2 ohm.
So maybe some of you can enlighten me but is seems to me that this design is good to accommodate current spike demand, as the choke stores energy as flux, and maybe reduced DC component in the main line if there is, but that's about it?
