Ridiculously hot Mcintosh and Bozak mono custom console at Milwaukee Estate Sale

I hit an estate sale in a wealthy part of town today. It was day 2, so everything was 50% off. They had a lovely custom-made McIntosh console there, along with the corresponding Bozak speaker. The original receipt was still in there.

McIntosh MC60
McIntosh C8
McIntosh MR55

Miracord XS200 turntable
Pickering 350DD cartridge

The speaker was a Bozak B305P.

Total original cost in 1958 was $1088.

They were asking 2100 on the console, so with half off it was $1050. I inquired, and they said they had an offer of $1400 on the console and the speaker. I said they should probably take that. Sorry for the lack of console pics. The one picture attached is of the speaker.

Seriously the first time I've ever seen real high end gear at a rummage or estate sale. I thought about getting it, but it seemed like a LOT of hassle and money for a mono system, and I really don't want to part it out, especially to make a few hundred dollars.

Yeah, mono makes it an acquired taste or a part out system for flippers... Cool list of gear, though. Nothing I wouldn't want in my home!
 
This is is only makes sense if you do full restoration (both cosmetic and electrical) and sell it to collectors of antique radios. Likely can get several thousand out that way, especially if you are ready to sell overseas.
 
Well, the MC60 might be worth th $1050 itself, so that looks like a good deal.
You could flip the other parts and keep the console and amp as they are sold singly alll the time. That would be a nice start to a really sweet system.

I agree.

The electronics is more than likely to need work - plus it's mono. $1,400 should be fair enough for both parties to walk away happy.
