right channel buzzzz. MC250 and C28

I recently bought a MC250 amplifier and C28 pre from an estate sale and it had been working great up to a week ago. The only repairs it needed was some deoxit in the balance pot and volume pot, but with that done I began to hear a buzz coming from the right channel. It is only in the phono 1 input and only when I am using the MC250 and not my newer Yamaha for power.

What could the issue be and how can I go about fixing it?

The most likely problem is a poor connection at the shell of a line level cable, or a broken shield connection in the cable. Scrub clean the audio jack shells with a paper towel patch moistened with WD-40 and check the connector shells are properly holding to the sockets.
