He invented the clicker type remote control. It was the one that used sound waves to transmit instructions.

My friend's dad had one. He cut a fart with a high note and the channel changed.

RIP to a guy that tried . . .
 
We all owe our present lifestyles to a multitude of ideas, discoveries and inventions of people like Eugene Polley. They may not always be household names, and their passing isn't always noted, but it's good to be able to put names and faces to some of them, and remember them when we can.

Thank you, Eugene Polley. You made our lives better. We owe you for that, and (at least some of us) are grateful.

Rest in Peace, Eugene Polley.

How true...I remember reading about the guy who invented the now ubiquitous bar-code. He turned his patent over to public domain and gets no revenue from it. The guy could potentially be richer than Bill Gates but he just gave it away!
