RIP @Gregory 2/13/22

Fellow McIntosh Fans and AK’ers - Sorry to post such tragic news. @Gregory - Aka Soundco Kid, Stereo Lab Rat passed away last Sunday. I befriended him when I started picking up used McIntosh gear. His posts were so informative, detailed and with excellent descriptions — easy for a beginner DIY’er to understand. I noticed his location was very close to where I live so I reached out in 2016. He was gracious to deal with a newbie who purchased questionable heritage and condition McIntosh amps, preamps, tuners, etc. Check out his own posts for the restore work he did on his 2205. For anyone with a 2100 or MX 113 check out those posts MC2100 To Dos and MX113 Update. He showed me the ropes for proper desolder, soldering technique. We worked closely on updating the signal path caps in my 2255 just last summer. He recently worked on @cawgijoe ’s 1900 Greg’s perfected documenting the plan to address the update/repairs. He laid out the schematics, parts list, order of operation, etc. He was meticulous when it came to the care of the equipment. His own components were as new out of the box. He kept each cap, resistor, transistor he replaced in bags with date of the replacement. He has the receipts, boxes and wood cases for all his McIntosh pieces. Unfortunately, we don’t have @Gregory to keep us on the straight and narrow, but we have his encyclopedic posts to look back on in the archives. Best, John
