I haven't seen another thread reporting on this news so here it is.
John died on Wednesday at the age of 57, primarily from complications associated with early onset Alzheimer's.
He (and the band) were very influential in my music experience and that of many of my friends. Some of those friends grew up with John and had very close affiliations with the band. One friend (an old girlfriend of mine) provided the title to at least one of their songs.
I last saw John at the taping of a special commenerative concert at the CBC studio here about 3 years ago. The event was post diagnosis and one of his last shows. He knew he probably did not have a long time left.
RIP John. The Crawl is over, it's time to go Home For A Rest.
