That high voltage buzz
I learned tonight that Mic Gillette of Tower of Power fame died of a heart attack this past weekend.
Here's a report from the SF Gate paper here in the San Francisco Bay area.
I was fortunate some years ago to play with him. A short but I stocky man, I can tell you that he was a powerhouse of chops. I sat in front of him in the sax section of a big band and he nearly blew my ears off.
He didn't carry attitude about playing, too. He will be missed by many of the Tower of Power community.
