Ritchie Bladkmores Rainbow

spok

Atmospheric Disturbance
What a great album hey?

i've been spinning it a lot lately and I tell you there is something for everyone on that vinyl platter. You have a commercial radio play music in Man on the Silver Mountain, you have a cowbell driven instrumental in Still I'm Sad, you have a very bluesly soft ballad in Catch the Rainbow and good classic hard rock anywhere in between.

I've just elevated it to my all time favorite top 10 list.

I love this period in Dio's life, his voice was just so great (he's still great)

Landmark recording of sorts...

You might, if you haven't already, check out "On Stage" and "Long Live Rock and Roll"

"On Stage" - gettin' cozy with Cozy.
YOU DO KNOW that Ritchie has done a total 180 music-wise, right? I think it's because of his ex-supermodel wife, Candace Night. They now have a group called Blackmore's Night that goes around playing gigs like renaissance festivals using medieval instruments.

How do you go from being the world's #1 axe man to playing ren-fairs? Boy...the things we do for primo tail...

All Dio was great at this point. He was at his peak, and Ritchie still had it too. It's one of my favorite albums also.

You and me Spok!!!!

I remember the exact night I heard Man On the Silver Mountain on the radio...gave me goosebumps.

I love that album, I love that album, I love that album.

I wore that album and CD out throughout high school.

And you are right, great period for Dio and Blackmore.

While thumbing through the bins at Licorice Pizza in So Cal in '77, I saw this double album and grabbed it right away.

It has been a staple in my collection ever since, although I listen to the remastered cd these days.

The recording was done right, and the sound is glorious.

This is much more than another record from a band; It's a Supergroup, like Blind Faith, for example.

With Blackmore on top of his game, Dios' voice as powerful as anyones, and a rhythm section that's like a locomotive, this is rock music at its best. Period.

Yes, it is one of those debut albums that is fantastic!! I am a huge Rainbow fan. The Dio years were the stuff of legend. Those first 3 albums are a must have in any rocker's collection. I do own all of Rainbow's releases and I like all of them.

Catch the Rainbow, Temple of the King, Still I'm Sad are my favorites on the first one.

It sounds like you all are in the Snap, Crackle, Pop Cult as you are listening to these on vinyl. :D :D

If you can't find Rising, Long Live Rock and Roll on LP, at least get them on CD. You won't be sorry!!

Great songs like Gates of Babylon, Rainbow Eyes, Stargazer, Tarot Woman are on the 2nd and 3rd release.
