Roached La Scalas Value?

Local asking $3K per pair for two pairs of "vintage" La Scalas. Not sure how she knows they "work good and have high quality audio" after all of the years it looks like they've been sitting in this garage or storage shed.

Each pic is one of each pair - the mates of each pair look about the same. They appear older, maybe even pros? The blue ones have a lot of paint everywhere, the cloth covered ones may not be so bad underneath. I was thinking more along the lines of $300 - $500 per pair, given the amount of work they'd need. Maybe I'm way off. What do you think?

My thought is that the seller hasn't a clue and looked them up online saw some completed sales more then likely current listings and figured that's what they go for whether online like ebay, and no disrespect to you, or in Wyoming

Those go for $3k to $9k a pair depending on condition and series. Lower end is still for units in reasonably good condition. Those are in poor condition, but fixable in the right hands.

If they were local, and I had time to spend fixing them, and the drivers were working, and the cabinets requires mostly cosmetic repair, $1,200 to $1,500 seems fair. If I did not have time in the next 12 months to do them justice, I’d pass or watch the sale for a bit. If they hadn’t sold after month or two offer $500 to $600 (and be doing them a favor). No point in them just sitting for another decade, but a deal is a deal.

EDIT: they look like club or touring speakers. That means that haven’t been treated well. A good listen is recommended.

No offense taken Dswankey. The market here is pretty poor - I've sat on good stuff for months, even years, without success. It's a small group who are into these kinds of toys and they're finicky for sure. Now if you're talking the market for things that go bang-bang, that's a whole different story.

Heck, I'm even part of that finicky market - I'd own them, even restore them, but they're not that desirable to me to spend lots of $$ on. I couldn't even move a nice pair of KEF 105.1s - ended up keeping them, and glad I did.

That’s true for everywhere if you don’t want to ship (and who wants to ship a pair of La scalas?). IMO, that’s a benefit to us who are local and patient.

Now if you're talking the market for things that go bang-bang, that's a whole different story.

Does this count? Could be money making fun for the right pair.
