Nothing crap about their disco music either. If you can forget the disco connection, it is just brilliant music.

Robins been sick for a while. I'm still hoping for a miraculous turnaround. Such a brilliant musician. I can't imagine how tough this must be for Barry. He has lost two of his brothers already. Almost unimaginable to lose a third.
 
I'm hoping he pulls through, the Bee Gees are un-apologetically one of my favorite bands, even their disco songs but specifically their early work. And they seem like such genuinely nice fellows in interviews. Hoping for many more Nights on Broadway for Robin.
 
I'm always fighting the war against perception. I've heard cover songs of their disco music in different genres and they still hold up. A good song is a good song.

Barry was really upset at the coverage of Andy's death, and who could blame him. All the speculation about drugs etc. fueled the situation.
 
Sad news indeed. "I Started A Joke" remains a personal all-time fave. I've long maintained that the pre-disco Bee Gees music, in and of itself, made them worthy of Hall of Fame induction.

I have listened to these guys since I was a little kid. The early stuff is my favorite but honestly I think I've liked everything they have ever done.

I heard this some time ago. Prayers for Robin and Barry are needed, their music has always held a special place with me, even during many style changes in music that they actually survived. I had heard that Robin was improving recently but this must be yet another setback. These guys were among the greatest in the entire British Invasion, their music over the distance of their careers has been definitive of its era regardless of prevailing trends. Here's sending good wishes to the Gibbs.
 
The Bee Gees were ranked way up among the top groups, back "in the day" --a "supergroup" of sorts, with an impressive list of very successful songs. Their willingness and ability to adapt to changing trends and create disco music --some of the best disco music ever made, too-- helped extend their popularity at the time, but has since diminished peoples' perceptions of them. It's sad, really; they were a very talented group, and do belong in the "Hall of Fame".

It's also sad to hear that Robin Gibb's condition is deteriorating. I wish it weren't so, and hope he makes a turnaround and recovers his health.
 
Most of us of a certain age had the BeeGees as major contributors to the soundtrack of our lives. The fabulous music from the early days was woven into our lives.

As far as the "Disco" era is concerned, the music of the BeeGees is the "best of the breed". The rich harmonies were far better than any of the competition and the melodies were hypnotic.

Although Main Course had the disco mega-hits Nights on Broadway and Jive Talking, it has two other songs that I love as much today as I did in 1975. Fanny (be tender with my love) and Baby as you turn away sound just as wonderful as they did 37 years ago!

I am particularly fond of his 1984 solo release Secret Agent. It is an excellent showcase for his vocal talents.

Like most of you, I hope that Robin can recover from this. The loss of his twin brother Maurice in 2003 had to be devastating for him, probably even more so than the death of Andy.

Sad news. The Bee Gees, early and later, were a pretty good group. And they always struck me as some of the nicer fellas in the entertainment industry.

A lot of us long hairs scoffed at their disco period. We were just too cool to admit that we actually liked it.

Even in to my 30s, I would hear Stayin Alive in my head while walking through Brooklyn. And Massachusetts will always remind me of Thanksgiving in Connecticut. Someone told me they were actually looking at Connecticut when the song inspiration came.

That is too bad. Been a big Bee Gees fan. I really like their early work the best, but their Disco music I grew up listening to.
