Buzzing through the local goodwill the other day and happened by the album section. Witch I really don't even bother with the album section at this goodwill. It really blows I have never found anything good or worth anything in there. But when I approached I seen it was a reel box setting on top all by itself. I picked it up and there it was Robin Trower Live reel for a $1.99.....Pleased with it great condition and sounds very nice

Awesome pickup. I used to see reels at the SA, but that was before I owned a reel deck. Since then, nada!

Nice find! One of my favorite concerts was a Trower concert back in the 70's. He played three long oncors. He liked playing Northern California.
 
Great find! I had the album version of that way back in the day, used to play it all the time. I always liked that version of Too Rolling Stoned even though it sounded like two different versions spliced together (changes key during the guitar solo like it was from a different recording). Saw him live in the late 70's followed with The Strawbs (weird double billing).
 
Dude, what a find! On the very rare occasion when one of my local thrifts has a R2R tape, it's always something like The Hollyridge Strings, one of the Philco or Radio Shack samplers, or some other awful thing. Never even seen something even remotely interesting like TJB or E. Power Biggs. In fact, I've never seen anything worth buying.

Speaking of E. Power Biggs, back in the 70s I had one of his tapes. He played BACH through a mighty pipe organ and it was awesome. Talk about a great recording for demonstrating a fine audio system. That thing would separate the wheat from the chaff in about four notes. All on a 7" reel at 7.5 ips. I think I paid about $6 for it at the Subic Navy Exchange. There was an audiophile version available at 15 ips. I've never heard it but I understand it was just incredible.

Great as vinyl is, I've heard nothing that could surpass a fine R2R tape.

Right but it sounds like the whole production is from two separate sessions. In fact it sounds like it starts off in the studio and right at the bridge where the guitar solo and slow heavy jam starts it becomes live (or possibly simulated live). Either way, awesome tune and a great find!
 
It's from a Live show in Sweden, no studio. The master tapes were lost so they had to use the recording from a radio station that taped the show.
 
That is awesome , I have never found any R2R at any thrift markets, just old christmas and conniff albums
 
Robin Trower is still touring and he rocks... Nice find, I like Bridge of Sighs and For Earth Below. This live show is probably my favorite from him.
