Roger Waters/Nick Mason to appear on Jimmy Fallon for "Pink Floyd Week"

Last year "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" celebrated a whole week of the Rolling Stones. In May, Bob Marley got his due. Now, the music-loving talk host is setting aside the week of Sept. 26-30 to honor one of the most beloved bands in history, Pink Floyd.

NBC announced on Thursday (Sept. 22) the lineup for Floyd Week, with artists including The Shins, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, MGMT and Dierks Bentley, who each night will perform classic tracks from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band.

Better still, founding members Roger Waters and Nick Mason will be stopping by early in the week to chat with Fallon. Here's a day-by-day breakdown of the festivities (9/26-30), according to NBC.

Monday: The Shins will kick off the week and perform "Breathe" from "The Dark Side of the Moon." This will actually be the band's first TV appearance in four years. Floyd drummer Mason is stopping by for a talk segment with Fallon.

Tuesday: Roger Waters is teaming up with Foo Fighters (for the first time ever) to perform "In the Flesh," off the singer-bassist's opus "The Wall." Fallon will also get a crack at interviewing Waters during the show.

Wednesday: MGMT will take the stage to perform the early Floyd track, "Lucifer Sam," off 1967's "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn." The echo-heavy song, written and sung by original frontman Syd Barrett, was only performed by the band in the year of its release, but it's since been covered by the likes of The Flaming Lips and Jay Farrar (Son Volt/Uncle Tupelo).

Thursday: "Late Night" will go country when hugely popular country charmer Dierks Bentley takes the mic to handle the Floyd staple, "Wish You Were Here."

Friday: Pearl Jam will round out the week with their take on "Mother," another massive track off "The Wall." PJ recently made their Fallon debut by unveiling the new track, "Ole." Eddie and co. are riding high as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut, "Ten," along with the release of "Pearl Jam 20," a film, book and soundtrack.

This week-long celebration of Pink Floyd is timed for the release of the band's 14 remastered studio albums, a 16-CD box set with those releases, and an ambitious 6-disc box set focused solely on "The Dark Side of the Moon," which includes previously unreleased audio and video.

Thank you sir. Gonna have to program the DVR for a few of those acts. Sucks to be so old and can't stay up that late anymore. :D
 
The day I can't stay up till the Fallon show ends will be the day I'm six feet under. But then again, I've never, ever enjoyed the 'mornings'--the bane of those of us who feel the creative urge at night.

My wife swears I am part vampire. I've watched the sun come up way too many times.

PF has been one of my fav's since Jr High School when Animals was released. Thanks for the head's up on Fallon.
 
I can't stay up that late anymore either (actually rarely could,) so that's why the DVR was a Godsend! Timers are already set!
 
Thanks for the update and I need to go out and buy some DVD-R blanks. While I don't have an HD DVR I can grab the show off a bit-torrent.
 
Got the DVR set to record. Rarely ever watch Fallon.

Main reason I can't stay up that late anymore, the neighbors all around me get up and start making noise, firing up their noisy vehicles, dogs barking etc. around 5:30-6 am. They've ruined my ability to stay up past 11 pm.
 
When Jimmy interviews Roger Waters notice how arrogant he will be. Roger not Jimmy.

I'm looking forward to see Dierks Bentley doing WYWH.

Time Warner cable remote DVR control is really a good thing!

Maybe its just me but Fallon sucks as an interviewer. He just wouldn't shut his cakehole and let Nick speak more than one sentence. Why waste his time asking about the Wizard of Oz bullshit? I turned off the TV when JF started playing the racecar sounds.

Fallon can be funny but he needs to realize we tune in to watch his guests and not just him. Standup comics (with the exception of Jon Stewart and a few others) are usually poor interviewers.
 
I agree, I hope Waters rips him a new _____ tonight! Fallon sounded like a school girl. "Like look at these cool marbles!" The look on Mason's face was telling.
 
Just watched last night's show and I guess Fallon remembered to take his ADD meds this time. The TV friendly version of "In The Flesh" with the Foo Fighters sounded great but the song loses some bite when performed out of context.
 
I enjoyed the interview with Nick Mason and Roger Waters. The car sounds was hilarious!

Roger Waters didn't seem as arrogant with Jimmy as he was when he was on Conan. Glad they are bringing the Wall back to the US in 2012! I hope it's an outdoor venue tour next summer. Australia and South American leg is end of Jan through March.

I thought the best song so far this week was Dierks Bentley doing "Wish You Were Here."

Glad to see JF again, I used to stay up late to watch it last time I was between jobs.

Wonder if they will come out with a PF tribute album with these artist/songs?
