Granted, those are two slim and sexy boxes, and Roksan isnt a new kid on the block - they clearly saw potential in the design(s) and are running with it. I guess time will tell whether this is purely a lifestyle exercise or something bigger - targeting the iPod generation is nothing new, but a device that is controlled by pushing either 'Less' or 'More' seems a little *too* minimalistic for my personal tastes. Given that I'm an old fossil, that shouldnt concern Roksan in the slightest. :D

Not for me but interesting. Clicked on the link which showed the amp with the "clock" function displayed. I really don't want or need my amp telling me what time it is. Cheapens the whole concept in my opinion. Good luck to them.
 
Roksan needs a new designer. Their designs have been controversial for a while now. It's really too bad because their products are pretty good.
 
Art, they actually bought this from a third party and 'improved' it, but I agree with you re the Kandy K2.

The majority of reviews I have read on Roksan have been very positive. It just looks like they went "half-way there" on a new design. Not modern, not retro, not technical. I guess you might say its minimalist but leave off the clock. I don't know why that bothers me so much.
I have a lot of respect for the brand and hate to see such a so-so effort. Of course in my opinion.
 
Not sure how many have seen this - Wadia dont have it on their website yet AFAIK - but the 'Intuition 01' was designed by an Italian guru from Sonus Faber.

Even more 'audio as art' than the Oxygene, IMO, it packs plenty into that slim chassis:

350W/channel Class D+ amp, 32-bit AD/DA digital preamp with a 1.5MHz sampling frequency, 32/384 and DSD-capable USB DAC, 6 additional digital inputs (1 Toslink, 2 Wdialink/I2S, 2 Coax S/PDIF, 1 AES/EBU), Wadia's Delta-SigMaster 1.536MHz upsampling algorithm, and 2 analog RCA inputs for a nearly fully functional and sleek one-not-a-box solution.
 
"Another UK amp the Ayre Ax7e", the last time I knew Ayre was designed and manufactured right here in the US, Boulder, Colorado.

I do think the Wadia piece is interesting though, maybe a bit too artsy for my tastes as an audio piece, but I guess there can be way worse-or better depending on what you fancy. Tim
 
I like the design. Not necessarily to my personal taste, but I just appreciate that they're trying something different. I think most new audio gear is butt-effin-ugly.
 
I have kind of a fine line with gear and the way it looks, I tend to be more simple, kind of like Naim and Rega gear, simple, no-nonsense look, however some of the newer modern looks as long as it isn't too flashy, I am starting to like a it more. Maybe the older is getting boring looking? Tim
