Roky Erickson comin' to town (Dallas)!!

So, last night I'm down in the up and coming hip Bishop Arts District in Dallas and on a whim decide to drop in a somewhat new music venue called the Kessler Theater. Turned out to be an exceptional little venue in a historic art deco theater and the two bands I caught were top notch alt-country/rock Americana acts Homespun Remedies and Deadman (think Grateful Dead, Grahm Parsons, Roger McGuinn, Wilco) and if you guys posting in the Texas Music thread haven't heard them I highly recommend you give them a listen. Anyway, so I'm in the can standing at the urinal and looking over the schedule and holy ****!! There it is...Roky Erickson of 13th Floor Elevators fame, or more notably, the pioneers or what we came to know as Psychedelic Rock (that's right, folks...it wasn't San Francisco's Jefferson Airplane or Grateful Dead that cooked up that sonic craziness....it was 13th Floor Elevators out of Austin, TX) is scheduled to play there Sep. 30. Wow! If you know Roky's story, which is a bit tragic, then you know what a rare event this is. Anyone in the area with a passion for Texas music history or just damn good rock should make a serious effort to make it out to witness this remarkable legend.

I have that one too. It's not bad, but I prefer his older work.

A family member saw him perform live recently and said it was a pretty incredible show.
