I think RS simply likes to create divisive lists to get attention. After their list of the "250 Greatest Guitarists of all Time", I concluded they no longer need paying attention to.

The internet is saturated with top whatever lists.
I now ignore them all.

Then again, such lists never include the really bad -- so bad they are GREAT -- LP cover art specimens, for instance, this gem:

Todd Wathen
With Love ... From Me To You ... Todd
(1979)

Todd Wathen was 16 years old when he released this "vanity" project. He did the cover art, too.

The material isnot bad and you can listen to this @ Utoob and even purchase re-issued material ON VINYL @ Bandcamp from Swampfungus Records. (Also available in Digital Download)

Todd was no Bobb Trimble, but I have this LP in my collection nonetheless.

P.S. @Mr.White can you think of any other "oddball" LP covers to add?

Then there was the advent of the Beatles' "White Album" so nicknamed as the official name was really, "The Beatles". But, "The Beatles' Dissolving" might have been a better choice for the title of this record.

Always wondered why this famous group came up with the idea of offering a "blank" cover, but the mental state of these English lads lead to this non-revealing outside cover other than the "serial number".

Epstein, the mental "glue" that previously held the Four Fabs together was gone. They basically became unglued, and were just tired of each other due to the "musical cell" that they found themselves in. They all wanted out after so much time together!

Ian Fortman a writer for "Classic Rock" so well describes in depth ("We've always been a rock group..." Nov 23/2024) how this unusual record came to be, resulting in the nondescript album cover without detail. His explanation of the times, the state of mind of the band, and the outside influences give a really clear picture of what brought about this record, and the compilation of this musical production that ended the collaboration of what made the Beatles...the Beatles.

"Helplessness Blues" by Fleet Foxes always looks similar to the "Revolver" cover to me especially the B&W poster inside the album.

Anyway... Limp Bizkit deserve a double win, both for album cover and album contents. "Charlie Parker's private hell" always makes me laugh but I am convinced Limp Bizkit would have worked equally well there.

This is the worst album cover! :rflmao:

The CSNY hot dog, on the moon, whatever.

Maybe there is a hidden message in there somewhere?

Some older, established bands were reaching for an “anything goes” zany vibe for awhile in the ‘80s. Time has not been kind to this era. To be fair, the album you’re referencing is CSN. No Y.

When i think about Rolling Stone publication these days, I dont think of music.
Kinda like "MTV", but there's no "M". It's like calling a pizza store to order a large pepperoni pizza, and they tell you to call a book store! I hear rumors, though, that beginning the first of September, they're back to 27/7 "music" videos...

You have posted The Bentons @ at least one of our previous threads regarding Best Of Worst Album Cover Art.

The Click Kids LP cover is new to me and it kicks a&&.

As for The Ferguson Trio, my favorite thing about this is the yellow (Olds? Buick?) muscle car, replete with garish yellow finish and winged spoiler out back.
