Rolling Stone names Hendrix best guitarist ever

Ditto. I have a 92, Rolling Stone mag cover framed on my wall. It says Hendrix. Greatest guitarist of all time. Then the mag goes from front to back with interviews of most on that list talking about how great he was, etc.....

I can't think of anyone that has influenced more guitar players than he. I don't think a second person would be close.

As far as the rest of the list. It's up for grabs. Who influenced the most second.

Hendrix as number one should be no surprise..One may not care for his music but the scope of his influence and playing puts him at the top of the heap. IMO

And once again Rolling Stone proves itself to be the magazine you can read without even opening it. Everything you think they'll print, is what they print, including this list of top 10 guitarists that you'd expect to be in a Rolling Stone top 10 list of guitarists. Let me guess....top 10 bands of all time: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. I don't even need the list.

I'm not gonna click through 100 pages, but hopefully they at least included Django? Not that Rolling Stone's R&R-biased opinions count for anything at all...

Edit: Found the list on one page: http://www.hotguitarist.com/guitar_artists/guitar_players.htm

No Leo Kottke, no Doc Watson... what a joke.

As both Frank Zappa and Hunter Thompson pointed out at different times, Rolling Stone is a fashion magazine, not a music magazine.

I think this settles it .

I did'nt see the whole list but the top ten seem a little off to me. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe satriani, Carlos Santana, Les Paul I'm just getting started. who's the best bass player? Robert

Thought for sure Joe Satriani would have made the top 10! Though not considered a legend, like much of the list, Sungha Jung has quickly become my favorite guitarist of all time. Youtube this kid, he's the bee's knee's!

Having seen over 500 concerts so far, I can honestly say I have never seen a better, more talented guitar player than Alan Holdsworth. For him not to be included on this list proves to me it is not worth discussing.
