Buying a "restored" vintage tube amp is always a crapshoot. Potentially lethal voltages pass through those things, and fire is also a possible danger.
@RossW placed a '59 Fisher X-100 on BT a few days ago at an attractive price and he clearly spelled out in his listing what work had been done to it. He is local to me, so I went over to his house last night to check it out for possible purchase.
The amp sounds beautiful, with no hum, hiss, crackle or other nonsense - just that wonderful Fisher tube goodness. He also made it clear that he was available to help if something was not working right after I got it home.
Ross and his fiancé are both really nice folks too, very easy to talk with. I feel comfortable endorsing RossW as a seller!
