Rotel anyone?

I posted about this pairing but apparently it was in the wrong forum. Anyways I picked these guys up this morning for very short $$ at our local flea. I'm listening to the 1312 right now and I'm loving the sound from this nice looking old integrated. I haven't hooked up the tuner yet. Both pieces of gear were filthy rotten and covered with nicotine when I brought them home. A good scrubbing a liberal dose of deoxit and they're looking presentable and sounding good. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience or comments on vintage Rotel gear. These are my first vintage Rotel pieces and so far so good.

Just had a few of the lower wattage rx's. They sounded very nice and had very very neat builds. The RX 404 kicked a Pio SX-680 out of its slot with no problem.
No comparison to what you got, that's beautiful. I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat.

Congrats. The RA-1312 is a solid 85 wpc with plenty of metal to back it up. The RA-1312 pairs with the TOTL RT-1024 tuner, which would have made your already good score great. Some of the lower down units had square handles which your tuner has.

Ra 812

For a long time I had an RA-812 which is like one step down from yours. Loved the sound from it. You got a nice score there!

Thanks for the info guys. There's precious little info out there on the older Rotel gear. The tuner is a 4 gang and it really sounds and looks nice. The dial is spot on and the reception is ok but nothing above ordinary. The integrated though is a very fine looking and sounding piece. It's one of the nicest looking integrateds that I've ever owned. The knobs are all solid aluminum which surprised me given the size of the knobs. The loudness switch is something I don't normally use but this one is subtle enough that it's actually nice to use. Overall I'm pretty happy with my first pieces of vintage Rotel.

I enjoyed the sound from the RA-1312, very mellow and pleasant sounding. In some ways reminds me of the Pioneer SX-1250, but I have never A/B them.

The models that have the same family look as the RA-1312 are not many:

RA-1312
RA-1412
RT-1024
RX-1203
RX-1603

IMO, these are the nicest looking Rotel's. The 2000 series and the very rare 5000's are second nicest looking, IMO.

Rotel gear is generally excellent but tends to be a little under the radar, making used ones affordable. I'd put them up with the better Sansuis and Yamahas and Luxmans.

I just picked up a tidy rx-402 at the weekend, for not alot of £'s, after some thinking out loud on ak. I am impressed with its build and quality, like yours a deoxit was required. The tuner is quite good, pulls in very well. Although the 'stereo' light I feel is a little pessimistic at times.

The annoying thing with mine being a 'uk spec' is that it has 5 pin din connectors for the sources and two pin dins for the speakers. The speaker dins are no trouble, as my leak delta setup uses them, but the 5 pin din inputs are some what annoying. So far I have done nothing but listen to the radio.

Other than that, I like this unit so far. :)
