If I didn't already have the Kenny Supreme 600 on the way, I'd be on this beast.

Not mine, no affil.

I did respond, but it was posted yesterday, so I'm pretty sure Don the Flipper has it in his grubby paws by now. ;) I'm betting it will show up on his site for $500 in a couple of days...

What do you figure a fair price for one of these units would be? One has shown up in my neck of the woods. And I'm thinking of making an offer.

The RA-1412 is rare and somewhat unknown. A few years ago, I paid $300 for mine and I'm glad I did. It goes perfectly with my RX-1603.:D

Man, you're watching all the same stuff I am!

Were you the one who picked up the Pioneer sx-5590?
The 9600 is probably the way better choice. I didn't even see it listed. But I think I'll try and buy it, if he's still got it.

On another note, did you recently sell a pair of Paisley speakers?

Winnipeg is a small city, especially when it comes to audio equipment, it's really a small circle for some of us in this city.

Indeed I am the one who bought the SX-5590, it was a very awkward situation. The Rotel is nice amplifier, imo, and is worth the money. Kenwood might seem to be "better" deal because of the literature behind it. But, the Rotel RA-1412 is no slouch. Never hearing a high end Kenwood and some parts on the Kenwood are NLA, the Rotel isn't a bad alternative, I've heard several Rotels and I find them quite neutral and very balanced.

I will actually be shocked if the Kenwood is still available, been sitting there for awhile.

Yeah, the Kenwood is tempting, but the unavailable outputs are making me a little leery. The rotel isn't as powerful and doesn't have a tuner section, but it is servicable, and less of a gamble. I'm still debating.

The KR-9600 and the Power Packs are not my favorite. I've never bought one for this reason. Even when working, they are reputed to be hard to set DC offset and that in my book is no good. The SX-5590 is the better built receiver.

Get the Rotel, you will not be disappointed. The tuner that goes with the RA-1412 is the RT-1024.

110wpc is still a lot. In most home application 60wpc is more than enough. The tuner is beautiful looker but so expensive, haha. It seems the tuner cost more than the amplifier it's suppose to match!
