Dear friends, I recently acquired a subwoofer to compliment my Kef 103.2 speakers. It's a Canton Plus C from the late 1980's and though nominaly rated at 4 ohm, the guy at Canton tells me it's 4 ohm with the satellite speakers connected, and only 2 ohm as a sub alone! I don't have the satellites and wouldn't want to use them anyway....
So my question is, using this wired in parallel with the 8 ohm Kef 103.2's, with a resulting combined impedance of 2.66 ohm (my caluculation) at modest listening values, am I likely to do any damage to the Rotel RB981? I know the Rotel is a powerful, high current amp, but I also know this isn't recommended. What do you think? Any ideas or way of introducing a dummy load on the satellite outputs? I hope I can make it work because I love the sound of the sub! Thanks, Jon
