Rotel RX-855 issues.

Good Evening. I recently acquired a Rotel RX-855 and when i hooked it up and turned on the power the display only lights up when the selector is on FM and AM when I turn the selector to CD or Phono the display goes blank and there is no sound. Any thoughts?

So there's sound on AM/FM but none is any other function?

There's no sound on any setting but when its on AM\FM the display shows the channel and seems to function properly. When I turn the knob to any other selection the screen goes off.

there were a few companies that turned off the lights on analog tuners when not in use. that may be the case here as i looked on youtube and in every video that i saw, the tuner was not being used and was not lit up.

Couple of easy things to check before we have to dig in deeper

1. Clean all switches and pots - verify all switch positions
2. Do you hear any relay click upon power up?
3. Divide and conquer...separate the preamp/main amp. Feed a source directly to amp inputs (turn volume DOWN on the signal source like mp3 player) and check if you have sound.
