Rotel qustion

Anyone heard of an Rotel RX 3000. The guy says its a reciever. I am pretty sure its from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Are these any decent. I have no experience with Rotel stuff tho I have seen some of the newer stuff.

I too have never had or first hand seen any of the vintage rotel stuff but the pictures and discriptions I've seen of have always left me with a positive impression. Let us know what you find out.

That is how Rotel designated receivers. My 97 Orion does not show that model number. An RX-1603 was 160x2, the RX-2002 was 90 wpc, the RX-7707 at 35 wpc. Jeez, the Brits have no sense to giving a clue.
It could be a bruiser, or a baby.
Looks like mid-70s to into the 80s, 81, 82.
Their gear seems to earn high marks today, but in the early 70s I was not impressed at all. Problems, problems, problems is what I remember about those Rotels. Just about anything British-made then, actually.
Then, just before the exodus from AU, remember that fellow posting the nudie pix of his amps, and that HUGE RB-5000 Rotel amp that was about twice the size of the Spec 2? And actually twice the output, at 500 wpc!
You've got an eyeball situation, Grumpy. Look at it, heft it, then make a decision.

In the vintage line there was a RX 300, but never heard of a RX 3000.

I've have some vintage Rotel stuff. I like it.

Currently have the "big mother" RX 1603 receiver, and the 2000 series amp (120 wpc), pre amp, and equalizer.

I've got the big mother RX1603 as well. I thought it was rated at 180W/ch 8 ohms and 220W/ch 4 ohms, but recall someone posting tests on theirs and said it was really 240 W/ch into 8 ohms easy. I have the manual here somewhere. I recall that the tuner specs were considerably better than the stand alone Hitachi FT-920 tuner I have and that Hitachi is a nice tuner IMO.
