Roxy Music - The Studio Albums

I picked up my Roxy Music box set today and I'm happy! I've got other copies of all of these albums but nothing beats nice crisp fresh and well packaged vinyl.

I picked it up from Amazon at a decent price and it's gone up by $12 even since I ordered it. So far I've only listened to Avalon but I think it sounded fine so far.
Worth it for the covers alone.

Roxy Music were one of those rare bands that had the talent to change their sound as their careers progressed and still stay successful, and relevant.

Avalon is a long way from Virginia Plain, or The Bogus Man!
Looks like a nice box-set - Now hunt down a copy of The High Road
for the final live tracks and you'll have all the best and be complete!
Long time favs - enjoy the tunes!

Manifesto is my favorite album there, and I have about all of those. Spin me round, is a classic. Or should I say a reliable panty melter.

Great set,I traded a pair of Richard Thompson tickets to get mine. It's called "The First Seven",Polydor,UK pressings.

Very cool. My old copies are pretty well trashed, and I have the lame Country Life cover without the women, just trees! What a bunch of puritanical clowns some people are! But now I'm wondering if there is any quality differences between the Virgin or Polydor UK pressings. I hate that.

Love some Roxy Music. But really love Roxy Music Viva. Great live lp since u have a great collection of the studio lps. Im sure you have the live one, great music.

Yes, I do have Viva and The High Road mentioned earlier. I have Heart Still Beating somewhere around here, but have to try find the 2003 Live album. :)

Big Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry fan here. I have an expanded collection of Roxy LP's and I have yet to come across a bad pressing. The new releases are extremely good and I cannot tell the difference between my 1st press and the new release of Stranded. Bryan's EP's from the 80's are also excellent. You guys have to check out his new package deal here:

Avonmore is an outstanding recording. BTW, Bryan's photographer is my son.

Very tempted but $180 for albums I already own is making me hesitate. If I didn't own any of it perhaps but my go to Roxy is the BBC sessions and High Road and they're not here. Still pondering it, are the pressings really, really good?

The pressings are very good. I've listened to 3 of them so far and they are darn good. Nice presentation too with good thick covers to go with the thick vinyl. It does make for tight jackets though.

Amazon.ca ships to you stateside you might do pretty well as it's $183 Canadian vs Amazon.com's $180 USD, but our dollar is in the tank right now, so you pay about $136 before shipping. Mine was free being Canada but I don't think they do that across the border.

I compared my 1st pressing of Stranded to a brand new 180 gram Stranded and they sounded exactly the same to me. Quality of the new LP's is outstanding from the poster to the inserts etc...

That is totally cool (the photographer part). Any special outtake/candid shots kicking around? ;)

I'm listening to Avonmore right now as it just arrived today. Classic classy Ferry! And a very nice package with a CD, download card, 12" insert duplicate of the cover (suitable for framing?). Not to mention a nice sounding press.

Matts photo's are from the 2015 tour. The book on the above link contains all his work. Yes the Avonmore album is a special one at this stage of Bryans career. A very nice pressing sound wise.

www.liverockjournal.com is where you can find tons of concert photos including Bryan Ferry tour pics!
