So, I have the opportunity to buy a set of RS 1.5 for a good price. What is the general consensus of these vs the rest of the infinity classic lineup? I may buy them regardless for the 12" Watkins woofers, but I am curious how they stand on their own. I cannot audition these as they need their woofer surrounds replaced.
Regards,
Gary

it would be better if they were mirrored....from what I remember not that great in the midrange dept...they went through a ton of crossover updates to try to get these right...

I had a pair of RS 1.5 and enjoyed them a lot. Not as good as the quantum state but a very nice speaker.

Thanks everyone. These are located at a shop where I've found some pretty good deals in the past. I don't know how much he wants for them, but I'd guess around $50. I'll find out later this week.

$50?!?! The tweeters alone are worth at least that much! Some folks swear by those poly mids and even in need of a refoam, each of those Watkins is worth more than $50!

GO BUY THEM NOW!

....very good rock and roll speaker.

I agree. Very good, very dynamic rock and roll speaker with a unique combination of drivers that work very well together when driven with a proper quality system. Requires a strong amp. The model is however old enough by now that crossovers may need to be rebuilt to meet the speaker's potential.

The 1.5 did go through a number of crossover revisions, so later in production is better. There were a number of excellent Infinity speakers in that era went through a series of crossover revisions. I've owned a set of 1.5 in protected, nearly pristine condition since I bought them new in 1981. It was the beginning of my life long infatuation with classic Infinity.

They look to be in pretty good condition, except for the surrounds of course. For 50 bucks, u scored... Nice find!

great score...

I'd replace those EMITS with cobalt EMIT's...much better and fit the same...the K's are smaller, won't fit right

So, I recently received a set of Watkins which I purchased for my QLS project, but I used them tonight to replace the Watkins in these RS. Once substituded, they sounded nice, but not perfect. Initially, I was getting no sound from one of the mids; however, after playing with the L-pads, I was able to verify the functionality of both mids and highs.
