RS family portrait

Copa1934

My ears are bleeding
New for 75: Nova-7B
New for 76: Optimus-5B, Mach One (though mine are actually from 77)
New for 77: STA-2000. While they didn't state "New" it wasn't in the 76 catalog.
New for 78: Minimus-7 (Mine are "C" models, so much later)
New for 82: Optimus T-110 (not pictured, but identical looks with grills on), Mach One

Liquid Cooled (not pictured, have two pair, one with VL mods almost completed)
New for 84: Optimus T-120. I've left the grills on due to the surrounds being shot.
new for 85: Mach Two. Mine, you'll not have a 40-1281a mid in place of the factory 5"

cone. Better vocals and mids in general.
New for 97: Pro LX8 with dipole tweeter.
New for 99: Pro LX5II
New for 02: Pro CS550 (not pictured, in my HT system) center channel. Reintro of RCA

brand name? Mine the tweeter is turned 90 degrees. Weird.

Image taken in the Mancave.

Very nice indeed! Takes me back to when we had Radio Shacks here in Canada and it reminds me of when I use to visit them back in the 70's:)
P/S I had the original Mach 1's the good ones(2 pairs) and later on the STA-2300 Receiver & LAB 2100 Linear TT.Had seperates by them before that but don't remember much about them only the R2R I had...........

Very cool! I have 6 sets of RS speakers and think they are still way under appreciated.
I don't have any RS TT's, which I wouldn't mind having. Got 3 RS receivers, 1 tape deck, a couple CD changers/players and obviously a ton of speakers.

Like you I also have a 9090DB, but the only thing I haven't been able to get working is the tuner section. Nothing worked correctly when I got it. Took a lot of cleaning, and otherwise sounds good.

BTW, I had a little Realistics receiver that was 14wpc that was pretty sweet. I only sold it because I was downsizing. I wouldn't mind getting a big one.

Very nice family!

I have a few myself. But not as extensive: Minimus 7 and 7W, Nova 7b, 8, MC-1000, LX-5II (the RCA dipole, last incarnation) and so on.

Of course you also have to have a few RS receivers in the fold?

STA-95, STA-2200, STA-2270, STA-700, STA-11. And a small Allied model 425.

Realistic was part of the "youth" I never had! Currently listening to the college FM on the 7Ws and STA-11--Minimus EQ "on". Perfect background combo!

Enjoy!

That's a fine looking family in my book :music:
Thank you.

It's funny in a way since many were given to me by people who knew I like RS stuff OR knew I like repairing speakers. It's been fun.

I've also had an interesting time comparing to other speakers. Tonight I was comparing the Mach Two with my AR3a, Bose 901 (series I) and Vienna Acoustic Haydn. Really different characters and each has strengths with different music. Hope to spend more time doing comparisons next weekend.

I was going to convert them and actually have all the parts, but I just don't need them so there they sit. There are odd in that being so cool looking they just aren't worth that much. They actually sound good too.

A diverse collection from the highly regarded amongst Radio Shack's offerings spanning nearly three decades. All in one room!

Gotta love it! :thmbsp:

I may post an image of the other wall in the Mancave. AR3a, Bose 901, Vienna Acoustic Haydn. Driven by a monster Fisher RS-1080, biggest, baddest Fisher ever built. Of the three the Haydn's I like the most, and they're the smallest of the bunch.

Thank you all for the positive remarks. For me it's mostly fun keeping speakers, in general, out of the landfill, where they don't belong. Well maybe not in all cases.

Very nice. I have the 4s which are the end table or seat looking things.

Always thought Radio Shack missed an opportunity by not configuring these as subs in the first place. Reflecting back on 1969, they would've been great at parties. Cue up some heavy bass tracks and offer them as seats for a cheap thrill.

Hey Copa! My stereo room looks like a Radio Shack too...:) In fact over the weekend, I picked up "another" pair of Mach Ones (4024) and an STA-52.

All I need now is some radio controlled cars and some Battery Of The Month cards to hand out...:)

Too funny. I guess I should keep my eye out for RC cars eh? I know my grandson would enjoy that. I have dozens of metal model cars, but need more shelving. They don't still have battery cards do they?
