RSL 3600 Monitors Frequency Responce and Measurement

Hey all, hope you are doing well.

I bought my RSL3600s a little over a year ago for 200 dollars and was very suprised at how good they sounded for the price. Now that I have a calibrated microphone, I can provide frequency responce information and more for these speakers that I did not see avalable when I was trying to research them before my purchase.

This measurement was taken with a UMIK1, pointed at the ceiling, at the listening position, with the 90 degree calibration file, L + R speakers, and an 89db volume. The vertical scaling is set to 50-100 and the graph is at 1/3 smoothing.


This is (as far as I can tell) a mid-late 70s pair, with vented dome tweeters, the 5 inch midrange RSL loved using at the time, and a 12 inch white bordering on yellow paper cone woofer. This is being played from my PC in REW using a TEAC UD-501 DAC, running via RCA into a Victor (JVC) P-3030 Preamp and then a JVC M3030 power amp.



In my less then professional opinion this looks, quite good for an unrebuilt, well loved off the shelf monitor of the era being tested in a mostly untreated bedroom. these frequently get compared to the JBL 4311 and I would say that comparison has some merit in it as far as I can tell, but I would love to hear everyones opinions.


Any other measurements or information needed, or discussion about these speakers I would be happy to indulge in.

We need to know: is this with the bed made, or unmade?
And, knowing nothing about your measuring system, why is the mic pointed at the ceiling?
 
I have a pair of 3800s that I bought, and still look, new. I had the woofers refoamed years ago. We never listen to them (too much other good stuff). I wonder how they would fare?

Does your program sweep both channels at once? If so, are they corelated (mono/same) or un-corelated (stereo/different)? If it is doing both at once, try one at a time and see if things change. Makes a heck of a difference when using an RTA like I do. One channel at a time will be a whole lot smoother because the channels interact creating peaks and lulls for a mono signal.
