RSL speakers, am I alone?

The ones you are describing sound like the little brother to my max towers. Do they look like

I used to have the cheap “party” max speakers with the warning label and I sold them. They were almost meant as a joke speaker if I recall my conversation with Howard correctly. Nothing special except for the hilarious labeling.

Yes, I have two pairs of the Max’s as in the brochure. It mentions that these are a bigger version of the Studio Monitor speakers (or perhaps a smaller version of the Max Towers!)

Those are the fancy style elan's! And, yes, the max speakers you have are the middle child.

So I just picked up another set of elan’s and Nevada XT’s that both need the passive radiator replaced. My question is, do the speakers with the grill cloth cover in the rear over the passive radiators supposed to have the metal mesh cover also? Or is that why it has the cover. (See pics of the Nevada XT). Thank you.

Thor, I never paid much attention to the Nevada models but my guess would be they came with either the grill cloth or screen but not both. To me the 8 inch mid-woofer made the upper bass, lower midrange sound a bit too "warm and chesty" for my tastes. You have plenty of Elans, so keep an eye out for a pair of the Sierra model which looks similar. The Sierra either pre-ceeded the Elan or maybe the models overlapped for a period but I think the Sierra definitely came first. The Sierra used a 12 inch white cone woofer with a foam surround unlike the usual RSL treated cloth accordion surround.

I have run into a problem with identifying one of the crossover capacitor values in my RSL 3300/studio monitors (the one in the yellow circle). Any ideas as to what the value might be? This one happened to have the identifying info on one while the other crossover is completely void of any identifying information...

Well...I finally found a pair of Sierra's (in Glendale) today and picked these up for $90. As expected, the foam surrounds were shot, however, most everything else seems to be in order. The brittle wire tab levers broke when I disconnected the speaker wires, but I have had those break before. These must be an early version as I have seen pics of others that had the tweeter adjustment on the back. A couple little nicks on one of the cabinets...not too shabby. I can't wait to get the drivers re-foamed to test these out!!

I was tempted to buy one of these, already have dual 12" subs but just in case I need 16 Hz!

yes, it is, i have personally been visiting and engaging with Howard Rodgers and auditioning his and the other products represented at his stores. there was a hiatus of the brand and it reincarnated along with Howard's son. the new products are no less than very good.

I have a RSL 12S Speedwoofer and for the money I am very impressed with the performance.

Now I need to convince myself to replace my other Def Tech SuperCube 6000 with another RSL 12S Speedwoofer...

I know the performance is definitely there, just not sure I need another 12" RSL sub (dual/stereo) versus the Def Tech.

The RSL Speedwoofer 12S is physically much larger than the Def Tech SC 6000.

Thanks for the kind words! They are indeed RSL Magnificents. Refoaming is a bit tricky and I recommend you have it professionally done as it is easy to damage the woofer. I found a pair of these at my local GW. It took me a while to identify brand and model. Heavy oak cabinets with rounded corners....quality drivers. There was nothing to identify them... no badging at all.

These are excellent bookshelf speakers!! They remind me of a pair on ADS 570/2's I had a while back. Got lucky that day...gotta love GW....lol.
