RT-909 - missing nylon ball

Anyone know where I can get a replacement nylon ball? Specifically I'm looking for thrust bearing balls. The belt turned to goo, so the original owner removed it before shipping it to me. One of the nylon balls must have gotten loose at that point as well, as I only found one.

I've read these balls aren't manufactured anymore, and that a steel replacement may be in order. If that's the case, where can I get some teflon to creative a protective coating on the plate this bearing touches?

What a disappointment to put on my new belt to find out this is missing. :(

Thanks for getting back to me Rich. So there's no place to get those balls on nylon, eh? Where could I find a steel one? They're 4mm, right?

You might contact AK'r, matrix, as I think he has a source for them on the other side of the pond.

Enjoy,
Rich P

By refereing to matrix, I was speaking about nylon ones. Steel ones are easy to get.

Lost one on my a few years ago trying to change the belt. Bought some from the guy on Ebay that rebuilds the 909. Thought I was going to get same part. What I got was some nylon beads from a bead store that happened to be 4mm. Payed $10 plus shipping when I could have went to the mail and got them for a few pennies. They ended up working out just fine.

I think vfr800fiman meant to say "5/32 inch balls will probably work just fine. They are only .001" smaller in diameter than a 4mm ball."

4 mm = 0.1577"

9/64" = 0.140625"
5/32" = 0.15625"
11/64" = 0.171875"

5/32" equals to 3.969mm (just .031mm shy of 4mm)
charlie is the correct one in this case: a bit more than .001 smaller than 4mm. It should be fine.

I guess no one read my post?

I bought these balls in 100 lot. (minimum order) I needed 2. Anyone can have some if they send me a self addressed, stamped envelope. FREE!

Geez...

Actually, I understood that, but I don't need any more balls :D

I guess everybody else is lost in trying to add fractions of a millimeter to a thousand degree, and are getting lost in the math

Yep. These balls from McMaster work perfectly. My 909 was missing BOTH when I got it. The "Pro" was here.... But it's all good now.

Anyway... I have no real use for the rest of them, so as a gesture (and to piss off price gougers) I give them away till I run out.

Size and composition please.
