I found a pair of RTR 600D speakers on E-bay near where I live about 3-1/2 hrs. away ( Raleigh NC) I didn't have a vehicle big enough to put them in so, seller agreed to ship them to me. The speakers arrived today and I was so excited I wanted to leave work early just so I could hook them up and crank them. Well here's some pictures of them after FedEx delivered them .....What a great job they did destroying them!!!! I hope the front panels can be rebuilt by a cabinet builder. I seen and heard a pair of these over 10 yrs. ago and wanted to get a set and then this happens??? Just my luck. By the way they where double boxed but, it looks as though the FedEx employee who did this dropped them off the truck and they landed on the right corner causing the damage. BUYER BEWARE OF THESE SHIPPERS......

I dunno, they don't look too bad. Looks as though you have one good front baffle to get a template from. Once you get the bad baffle cut out cleanly, you can get in there and get the rest of the cabinet put back together. It'd be one hell of a restoration, that's for sure. The drivers will have to be checked out, domes pulled out, maybe a few or less replaced or repaired. The grills are trashed, but those can be made as well. I'd go for it!

That is such a shame. I've had large speakers beat up as well, I think large or oblong packages sometimes get hung up on their conveyer belts and get beat up by the other loads flying by on the belt.

Nice speakers, I would rebuild the cabs if i had the carpentry skills.
 
You hear horror stories from all shippers, there really is nobody you can depend on 100% for getting your stuff delivered without abuse. No matter how good the company, there are going to be a$$holes working there that just don't care (you've probably seen the Youtube videos in past years of delivery drivers dropping and/or tossing packages).

The good news is that I've found Fedex to probably be the easiest of the three major US shippers to settle a claim (I hope they were insured properly). Make sure you save all the packing material, take as many pictures as you can, and note down whatever details you have (such as how you found them when you got home) before you forget anything. Remember that the shipper is responsible for handling the claim, since he's the one who contracted with Fedex to ship them (unless he shipped them on your Fedex account; if so then it's probably your responsibility).
 
Seeing this just confirms the fact that everybody needs at least one friend with a pickup truck.
Sounds like they were either packaged poorly, mishandled horribly, or both. I would file a claim, or have the seller file a claim.
 
That's a crying shame. Probably should have been palletized. I cringe every time I open a package. Especially heavy ones.

Looks like they were wrapped in loose styrofoam peanuts and newspaper. Particle board doesn't hold up that well with that many holes in it (for speakers) and then the weight that's flexing it with basically no cabinet bracing. Maybe the baffles can be just rebuilt with MDF or some good plywood and call it good since they're covered with grills.

I've got my own rule of thumb that if I can't go pick up the speakers themselves in my truck, I don't need them. It would only be certain members on AK that I would trust for shipping outside of MY own shipping practices of overdoing the packing.
