RTR Digital V model 500?

Hey everyone, recently found these at the local st vinnie's with warranty tags on the back still($50). I have 2 other RtR's, the series iii midsized and the small bookshelf speakers which are fabulous.

Now these monsters. They are HUGE, heavy and we were surprised they actually WORKED coming from st vinnie's. The logo isn't the same as the RtR on our other two sets, rather all capitals....but look like everything from the digital series line.

Anyone have any ideas about them? Are they really RtR's?

and surprisingly, they sound damned good, though I still love my polk monitor 5 peerless tweeters

I had some of those a couple of years ago.Flea market find for $5 with a torn woofer and mid.No grills either.Glued the woofer and mid and played them for a bit.Heavy and large speakers.They couldn't match the deep bass of my CVs(shallow cabinets) so I gave them to some younger fellow who was quite pleased with them.As I recall they are the last of the real RTRs.Not much on the web about them.As I recall they were a decent speaker.Yours look to be in real good condition.

They look like later RtR's after BIC bought the company, probably not a bad speaker, but they won't sound as good as the earlier speakers.

They have held up really well to the 20 other speakers we have here lol
They are in near perfect condition, with grills and badges. When we first bought the rtr bookshelf speakers it took a LOT of digging for info, but we were able to find something on them, these.....next to nothing.

I just acquired a pair and they sound surprisingly good.

I acquired a near-perfect pair and I was a bit reluctant to do so but it was the best purchase I ever made.
I cannot find any information on the RTR Digital V model 500 but I will tell you they sound amazing.
I previously owned a pair of nice JBL L100 and sold them once I purchased the RTR speakers.

I learned, 30 years ago, from working in the Rock and Roll bars as a doorman (hate the word bouncer) that rock music is blasted from one end of the room towards the other. You have to feel the bass, hear the voice, and the treble has to be clear. The music has to swallow you whole and spit you out. No, I do not have hearing damage and I have exceptional hearing as tested.

These RTR Digital V model 500 connected to my LUXMAN R117, filtered through a small tube amplifier really recreate a total thundering rock and roll bar. I have owned them for over a year now and they still sound amazing. This is the only speaker set I have ever owned that pulls the music from my receiver. Raw Totally Raw - RTR.

I recently bought a pair of these. They sounds very very good, blow away my JBL 4410 big time. I connected to several receivers including a tube amplifier, all sounds wonderful.

They are from the end of the RTR company run, and were sold in appliance stores mostly. The round badge RTR were sold to hi hifi shops.Still pre BIC, but awful close to the end where they were running out of money.

These are not the best speakers RTR made, but do sound good considering the piezoelectric tweeters. All RTR cabinets are heavy for their size and most are of sturdy construction.

Yes, I read some negative review about the RTR brand and some people said their speakers are not impressive. But the Digital V model 500 sounds really great to me, much better than JBL 4410 which is a well known brand speakers. I don't have other nice speakers to compare so JBL 4410 is only one that I could compare side by side.
