Hi everyone. I’m a frequent reader but not much of a poster. But I have run into something and wondering if anyone has seen this before.
I picked up a pair of RTR ESR-6 speakers today. They seem to work but the output is low. I have read in forums here about the .01 3kv cap may be bad or the 3kv Diode can cause low output.
But before I dig into that, would anyone had any idea what this mystery part is ? I put a piece of yellow tape on it for the pictures. It has no markings that I can see. It’s not in the schematic I have for the ESR-6. It connects between the input (+) and where C1 & R3 connects. I have opened both ESR boxes and each is the same. They both have this mystery part.
It is just a small flat black piece of plastic. It has only 2 leads. The leads are sort of black up by the part itself. I’ve seen this sort of thing on small transistors so I’m thinking this is some sort of semiconductor part. I tried the diode test on my multimeter but the results are in inconclusive.
Also. There is an small round metal part that doesn’t seem to be on the schematic either. Unless this is the SVP (Surge Voltage Protect) but it looks to not be connected to the proper parts for that based on the schematic. But, it is inline with the Yellow wires leading to the panels so maybe it is this SVP. The schematic shows this as parallel across the yellow and red high voltage panel wires.
But, the black part is the real mystery. Any ideas ??
Thanks
