RTW peakmeter - any specific benefits?

Start looking for the peak meters and find beautiful plasma based RTW.

Schematic kinda complicated. On eBay priced too high and peoples bid it as crazy.

Any specific benefit from it or purpose why it valued so much?
and any practical difference over common VU meters on the deck.
