Running weak 7199's

So, I have three really weak 7199 tubes and a single NOS 7199.

My Ampeg G-15 uses one, and it actually sounds pretty damn good with the weak tubes.

Is there anything wrong with running weak preamp tubes like this? It wouldn't stress the 7591's or other components in any way, right?

I'm too OCD to consider a 6U8/6GH8 conversion, and I'd rather drain the life from these three weak 7199's before opting for my only NOS one.

I removed a Thomas organ amp. the 6v6 tubes tested 0 but it still played fine.
I know of 3 different guitar players that have played their rigs till the power tubes just quit. Didn't hurt anything on all 4 of those amps.
I do have a friend who claims his pre amp tube died and that let DC pass through to his speakers but he couldn't explain how so I have no idea if he even nows what tubes are what.

No problem using weak tubes. They absolutely will NOT affect the following tube. Remember, the 7591 tubes are separated from the phase inverters by a coupling capacitor. And the only accurate tube tester is the circuit that the tube is designed for.

Why not just enjoy the NOS tube now while you are in your prime to enjoy it? You can use the weaker ones in the future....and by then you may have something better to use.....or you may come across more 7199's etc.....or you might be 6 feet under (hopefully not).

If it were my choice I would use the best sounding tube out of the 4...even if it's the NOS one.

Sooner or later, you need to overcome your OCD tendancy and revel in the cheap availability of better 6U8As.

Those 6U8A's are everywhere. Does a Dyna st70 need any special attention other than socket configuration for this tube?
