I bought one of these tiny little amps to use as a computer amp (I had it hooked up to Energy eXL 15 and just got some NHT Superone speakers that I'm trying with them). It's a cool little piece of gear and nicely designed. I like the way that it has it's own DAC and digital inputs. The sound is clean and certainly all I want out of an amp that I'm using with my computer (I'm much more critical of my main system).

There's just one issue with it though and I wonder if anyone might know of a fix, let alone an explanation... it seems that when I turn the thing off and back on that it losses the left channel. I thought that it was just a loose speaker connection and messed with that, but I'm realizing that this isn't the problem. I can get both channels to work if I unplug then replug in the power supply and then cycle through all of the inputs (I'm using USB, but had the same issue when I tried using it with the analog inputs). I can always get both channels working after messing with it a bit, but it would be nice if everything would work properly when I turned the thing on. I suppose that I could leave it own and maybe it's not drawing very much power as long as it isn't being used, but my thrifty nature makes me feel like that's an unnecessary waste...

OK... I've been communicating with the folks at SMSL and they've offered some help but I'm a bit mystified by it and they seem to be kind of done with me so I'm not really getting any more answers from them. They said that I could do some kind of "factory reset" by following this advice,"Long-Press power key without power input first, then power on the unit, until the screen shows LOGO." Does this make sense to anyone? it doesn't say to unplug the unit, but that's the only way to be able to "long-press the power key without power input" and then does the next step where I'm to power on unit, mean that I plug in the unit?

I tried it a couple of different ways, not really understanding the way that they're suggesting to me to do it and never does the screen show a logo... Their instructions to me really make no sense at all...

So then the idea might be something like this "Unplug the unit and then hold the power button down while plugging in the unit?" Expect that this isn't what the instructions said. Nonetheless, I did try just that and it didn't really do anything. The logo is supposed to appear on the screen and I've never seen that. I think that a big part of the problem is poor translation as they're a Chinese company and it seems that their English might not be too good (I wish I knew Chinese!). I did take a look at the manual, which I found online as a PDF and it clearly shows sights of bad translation. It's somewhat intelligible but with very odd grammar...
