sa 5270 technics Volume pot iffy

Howdy,

I have a SA-5270 Technics that has a iffy volume pot *Or so I think* The Volume knob works and does the job of turning up the volume but it sounds like it doesn't send juice to the left speaker channel. If I push on the knob real hard it has full volume with both speakers. Once I release the pressure it goes back to half volume in the left and full in the right. I have tired contact cleaner and it works for about 5 mins and then goes back to normal.

What should I do? This receiver was my mom's and I love it too much to let it sit in the back of a closet. Is it fixable?

At the moment I have a Pioneer PL-510A and a pair of L1090 speakers ADS.

Thanks!
The Alton Barber.

How are your soldering skills? Sounds like a cold solder joint where the pot solders to the circuit board. I just got done resoldering one for a friends Kenwood which did the same thing!

Hey AltBarber,
That sounds like a highly plausible explanation and a very easy fix.

Ask for help here, and the folks here will help you through it.

I had an SA-5170, and it was a very nice receiver.

Yours is surely worth such an easy repair.
