SA-606 transformator

Hello, my friend gave me Pioneer SA-606 amplifier but there is a transformator missing. It was damaged in the past and someone removed it and I do not know what type of transformator was inside. Could anyone help me? I would know at least output voltage and power. Thank you:)

The sa-606 is the same as the sa-6700, and the manual can be purchased from Rick at stereomanuals.com or downloaded from kallhove.com/pioneer/.
The specifications are usually on the first page.

The transformer is part # att-483, but is no longer available. It can be salvaged from both the sa-606 and the sa-6700.

The secondary voltages are 40v un-center-tapped (blue - black) and 30v centertapped - meaning 30v(red) to 0v(different black) to 30v(red) (yes there ARE two red wires and there is 60v from red to red).

IF somebody technically adept pulled the transformer, it probably means that there are grave problems with the unit - or they had questionable taste and motivation - because the only thing that transformer is really good for is this amp.

There was really a problem with transformator. Previous owner used it with different toroid transformator which was pluged instead of original one but new one was situated outside amplifier unit. But he remowed it many years ago and now nobody knows what was inside. Whole unit worked till the last second! Now it awaits resurrection;)
 
Wish he had talked to me first...

This is a 0.05% distortion amp at rated power of 20 watts... per channel.

The 40v windings powered the regulated power supply, and didn't really have power sags under speaker demands, plenty of storage capacity for what was needed from the regulated power supply. The real load was presented to the 60v Ct winding, which might have seen a bit of an improvement with a toroidal transformer - meaning that the original wouldn't have to have been removed, just 5 wires brought out - 2 for AC power and three for the driver and output transistor power.

Taking that load off the transformer (60v ct) would have meant that the 40v windings would not have taxed the power delivery ability of the original transformer and it could have been left IN.
 
I am currently trying to hunt down that same transformer to repair a sa-6700. Does anyone have one to sell? I found a site which claims to have one, but they want 125 for it. I could buy a working 6700 for less.
