SA-6500 Mk2 Startup & Power Down Noise

I picked this set up as a gift for someone & want to make sure it's operating 100%.

I have a delay with a slight noise & woofer movement on startup. Also a pop on startup randomly. When you go to power down it sounds little dirty on power down too.

I've already cleaned all switches & pots.

Your Startup delay is too Short! It should DELAY the STARTUP (music) until the voltages stabilize, about 5-7 seconds. Obviously it's got too little delay. Also the Relay should kick out as soon as you flip the switch off. Relay operates off the PROTECTION CIRCUIT. Overhaul the protection circuit, and replace the relay. The contacts are most likely burnt also. This is covered on Page 8 of the Service manual under Sections 6.4 and 6.5 (Muting Circuit and Protection Circuit). Link to the S.,M. I can offer some antecdotes for perspective.
Mine (recently refurbished) has about a 2-3 delay before the sound comes on.
If the input signal is active, it offers a bit of high-frequency 'sizzle' sound to it as it eases into operation.
With no input signal there is no noise.

That's a very nice little amp you have.
I really enjoy mine.

Mine does it with and without an input signal. So I imagine something is afoot.
It is a nice little amp, I would keep it for myself but my Sansui G-4700 is doing fine for now.
